Fall Classes with Shirley Nachtrieb

October 29 & 30 2010, 9:30am - 3:30pm, $110
Autumn Still Life in Watercolors

This workshop will teach the basics of composition in setting up a still life with flowers. The class will work from seasonal flowers. Bring a favorite vessel for flowers. Pastel students are invited to attend. Techniques and color theory will be discussed.

November 19 & 20, 9:30am - 3:30pm, $110
Collage Workshop

The class will paint collage papers: unryu, 140 lb arches, gauze, etc. the first day of the workshop and create from them on the second day. Bring reference materials and ideas to share with the class if you have something special in mind. Golden fluid acrylics will be used as the painting medium. Some papers will be available for sale in the class.

Close up Photography by Garry Rose

In this six-week course with professional photographer, Garry Rose, students will learn the intriguing art of macro photography. Without using specialized equipment, Garry will teach you how anyone with a camera can take interesting, close up photos of flowers, insects, jewelry and much more! Discussion and demonstration on depth of field, cropping, composition will make this class beneficial to the novice or experienced photographer. (Minimum enrollment is six; maximum is 12.) Plein air painting of the historic log cabin in O’Fallon Civic Park. Painting outdoors has long been the preferred method of painting to accurately capture the changes that naturally occur outdoors. The instructor will explain and demonstrate.

Nov. 6 & 7: Painting The Autumn Colors
Painting The Autumn Colors with the artist's choice of media. Students will work from their own photo. This is an enjoyable exploration of color, value and color theory, while working with a limited palette.
