Congratulations to our friend Jim Dreyer!

We are happy to share the news that Jim Dreyer, son of our Resident Artist Jessica Dreyer, and overall friend of Framations, won a Silver Telly Award for his show "Beyond the Set: Shadowland", which can be viewed on his youtube page. The Telly Awards receives over 13,000 entries annually from ad agencies, production companies, TV stations, cable companies, interactive agencies and corporations from all over the world. It is a huge achievement to be selected for a Silver Award ( it is the highest award...there is no gold award). Jim works for the City of St. Charles Cable department, where only one other Silver Telly has been awarded in 30 years. Congratulations Jim!

Serena Boschert's contribution to "Doors to Dreams"

Resident Artist Serena Boschert lends her artistic talents toward helping Habitat for Humanity.

Habitat for Humanity of St. Charles County will be at the HBA St. Charles Home Show that will take place April 3-5, 2009. They have invited local artists to paint doors in an effort to raise funds to build more homes for families in need in St. Charles County. The doors will be auctioned off or sold at the St. Charles Home Show. There will be approximately 2 dozen doors as part of this fundraiser. Money raised will be used toward the purchase of new front doors for the Habitat’s development of 14 new homes in St. Peters, MO.

Jennifer Weigel's Performance Art Piece in "Women and Environment"

Framations' resident artist, Jennifer Weigel, is currently 8 days into a performance art piece entitled "Bitch" at Florissant Valley Community College. The piece is part of an exhibit called Women and Environment, a collaborative exhibit with works from both the St. Louis and Philadelphia Chapters of the Women's Caucus for Art. In the artist's own words:

"This performance responds to the plight of puppy mill dogs who are forced to live out their lives in cramped wire cages. It is also a commentary on how we can become limited by derogatory language by either not exhibiting traits that would be associated with the language or by reinforcing the shame and social stigma associated with it. "

The pieces selected for the exhibit focus on women and their environment, which encompasses social, political, ecological and cultural surroundings. This exhibit is one of a series of Women’s History Month events that are taking place at Florissant Valley Community College. Throughout March, panel discussions, video shorts, and lectures will be taking place. The gallery is located in the Instructional Resources Building at 3400 Pershall Road in St. Louis.

Jennifer is currently at the gallery whenever it is open and there is a gallery attendant, generally these hours (check her blog for updates and a day-by-day reflection on her performaces:

Monday, 10 - 4
Tuesday, 11 - 4
Wednesday, noon - 4
Thursday, 11 - 4
Friday, 10 - 4
Saturday, 10 - 3

Selected works will then travel to Riverside Gallery in Webster Groves to be on display April 7- April 30th. The Riverside Gallery Reception will take place on April 24th, from 7-10pm. Riverside Gallery is located at 13W Moody Ave in Webster Groves.
