Abstract Textural Collages
Explore fluid acrylics and textural elements to create semi-abstractpaintings on paper. This is the perfect workshop for the artist wholoves both realism and abstraction. The under-painting that is createdthe first day of the workshop may be finished as is, developed withpositive and negative painting, used as a base for more realistic workor torn into parts that are glued back to a new surface with addedembellishments. The end result will depend on the student's personalchoices and reference materials. Ideas gained from this workshop may beapplied to fabric or canvas. Colin Wright's New Photos in the Gallery
Colin Wright has added new photos this week:

On a photography expedition at Yosemite National Park , I traveled to Glacier Point to watch the dying sunlight on Half Dome. While watching the glow from the sunset behind me, I was treated to a beautiful moonrise through the thin clouds over the mountains of northern California .

Katy’s Light - $115
Over the last few years, I’ve begun taking to seasons of cycling on the Katy Trail . One particular morning on the trail, the sun filtered through the canopy of trees, and I found myself facing a brilliant light show upon the trail. I moved quickly to capture this stunning play of light and shadow on the trail.

Taken in northern Arizona , this image was captured during a trip to the Grand Canyon . It was taken on the road from Flagstaff to the Grand Canyon and features Humphreys Peak, the tallest point in Arizona . The sun was setting, beautifully lighting up the grain in the field in the foreground.

menstruation that will travel to various venues throughout the St. Louis metro region
from 2010 – 2011 and then travel nationally from 2011 – 2012. Each showing will
highlight different artists in the group.
Current Calendar:
Friday, April 9, 2010, 7 – 10 PM: Fort Gondo, preview party kickoff
previews of the exhibition, silent auction, installation by Jennifer Weigel
June 2010: St. Louis Community College - Florissant-Valley
reception: Thursday, June 10, 6 – 8 PM
August – September 2010: Washington University Medical School
By drawing attention to the female body and to the menstrual cycle, artists are able to
comment on this life-giving aspect of womanhood and to celebrate and/or show their
discontent with their own bodies & cycles. We are able to offer commentary on
experience, confront stereotypes & assumptions and educate one another about things
too often left unsaid. Thus we can explore the positive & negative to turn around
preconceptions and help break the taboo surrounding menstruation.
